Betty Kyalo Reflects on Short-Lived Marriage and Shifts in Views on Relationships
Media personality Betty Kyalo opened up about her brief marriage to fellow media personality Dennis Okari, which lasted only six months before they decided to separate. Speaking on Dr. King’ori’s Wicked edition show alongside her sisters, Betty expressed her confusion about how a relationship that had successfully lasted for four years could end so abruptly after their wedding.
“The divorce has significantly changed my perspective on marriage. If I meet a wonderful man whom I envision as my lifelong partner, I may choose not to have a formal wedding ceremony,” she shared.
Despite the disappointment of her failed marriage, Betty remains hopeful about finding the right man in the future and hasn’t lost faith in relationships.
“I still have hope. God will bless me with a man, with a husband,” she remarked optimistically.
Less than six months after their wedding, reports circulated that Betty and Dennis had separated, and Betty had moved out of their shared home to live in a rented apartment with her daughter.
In a previous interview, the CEO of Flair By Betty attributed the failure of their marriage to her youth and her lack of understanding of the significance of marriage at the time.
However, Betty emphasized that she has grown since then and is now ready to settle down with the person God sends her way.
“But now, as a woman, I have grown, I understand myself, and I know what I want. I’m ready to make changes in my life so that I can also have my ring. But right now, I’m not in a hurry. I will settle with whoever God sends my way,” she explained.
Surprisingly, Betty revealed that she is happy that her ex-partner has remarried.
“You don’t need to pretend to be happy in public while struggling privately. I chose to be happy, and I am even happy for him,” Betty added.
Betty was engaged to lawyer Nick Ndeda in 2021, but the engagement was later called off. During the launch of her new venture, Aftershave By Betty, she confirmed her single status and readiness to explore new relationships.
“People break up all the time. It only receives more attention because I am in the spotlight. But it’s normal. People move in different directions and have different ideas about life. So when you break up, you move on,” Betty Kyalo explained, acknowledging that breakups are a natural part of life.
