Stranger things season 3 ending explained

Stranger things season 3 ending explained: Stranger things have not had many cast deaths, leading to the fans assuming that another main cast might go to glory in season 3, the season ended but the question remains, over who it really is. Billy died in the season 3 finale, nevertheless, Chief Jim Hopper is yet to be known. He is presumed to have been killed by the blast of the machine or the key used by the Russians to open the Upside Down gates, or he is imprisoned in Russia as the post-credit scene shows.

In a recent interview with the Ed, after being asked to tell whether his cast was dead or alive, he claimed not to have a clue, the only way of knowing the truth is by watching the movie. He too thinks that he got himself in a sticky situation, and is not sure of the outcomes.

When asked by the Entertainment whether he is “the American” in the prison  Edward joked about his lack of knowledge about it, though he holds his hopes high he bears pessimism because of the way that the machine exploded with Hopper inside trapped. The fact that there exists an American prisoner in a Russian town, springs some controversy.

The directors and creators of the series, the Duffer brothers, warned about taking things for their face value. Matt Duffer told the EW that no assumption should be made, in fact, more questions should be asked.

In case there is a fourth season, a question arises on who the imprisoned man is, and their intention with the Demogorgon. Ross Duffer added that they are fixing up season four. which was released on May 27, 2022.

Stranger Things, the story so far- Stranger things season 3 ending explained

Stranger things. Some optimism about Jim Hopper being alive

  1. His body was never found, TV rules state that if the lead actors cannot find the body then the character is presumed to be alive.
  2. Matt and Ross Duffer want the fans to assume that “the American” mentioned in the post-credit scene is Jim Hopper. Guards mention the American vaguely to create interest, though it seems like a hint, that the American is Jim Hopper, which doesn’t presume him dead.
  3. “Heroes”, a song by Peter Gabriel, plays when Eleven completes reading Hopper’s note. This same song is played when Will’s fake body is found in the lake, whereas in the real sense, he is trapped inside the Upside Down, alive.
  4. It is appropriate that as the season ends, Eleven, who under normal circumstances would have sensed whether Hopper is alive or dead, has no powers. It had been shown earlier that she can find people she wants to when she contemplated finding her father Dr. Brenner.
  5. In the final episode, Hopper is seen glancing at the gate which is the way to the Upside Down before the machine is turned off. He might have taken his chance and jumped into the Upside Down instead of getting burned to ashes by the huge power of the machine.
  6. There is no sign of Hopper around the machine before it exploded, this can be ascertained by making fast pauses on the video.
  7. We assume that he either jumped into the Upside Down or was thrown by the powerful blast and is still trapped there. He may turn to a host for the Mind Flayer a way of karma making it hard for Joyce and eleven, or he may find a way out through another gate which is opened probably by the Russians, who would take him if they do not have him now.
  8. Assuming that Hopper is alive and that he will find a way out of the Upside Down and reunite with the people he loves, he might come with lots of information on the Russians’ involvement with the Upside Down completely ending the threat.
  9. Hopper may be inside the Upside down, having withstood the harsh conditions due to earlier contact with extraterrestrial spores in the second season. A drawback to this speculation is that it would lessen the emotional weight of the letter written by Hopper to EI. The letter bids farewell to his cast, even though he did not anticipate his demise. A price we would be willing to pay to bring back hopper to his lifestyle.
  10. spoiler alert. in the season 4 trailer El claims to have seen him in one of her mental escapades.

Stranger Things 4 | Official Trailer | Netflix

The catastrophic end of Matt and Ross Duffer forces Joyce Byers, Will, Jonathan, and Eleven to leave Hawkins. Eleven had no legal guardian after losing Hopper, and with no power due to an encounter with the Mind Flamer.

To maintain the states of affairs the series have been set within the regions of Hawkins, Indiana, Russia, and Illinois. The party is cut into two where mike is set apart from his girlfriend and best friend, Nancy, Mike’s sister, and Jonathan’s girlfriend; they now attend their senior high school in two different towns, while Joyce and Hopper may never see each other again.

Stranger things Season 3 finale brings things to light, that the end is near, probably one or two new seasons to finish the story. This is according to the angle with which the story can be told or the extent that which the brothers are willing to tell it.

There is pessimism among the cast too, for instance, Luca (Caleb Mclaughlin) and Will Byers (Schnapp) who do not see the series moving above 5 seasons.

The 3rd season finale lays down an inference with the dispersal of the group, in particular, Will and Eleven who previously had powers and connections to the Upside Down, have in them secrets from the Upside Down. A question arises whether the Mind Flayer inside them is waiting for them to leave Hawkins so it can spread globally.

Moving the movie would bring a big change and a way of expanding it too. The post-credit scene shows a Russian facility with a Demogorgon and “the American”. Similar smaller, less developed prototypes of the monster is also known as “demo dogs”. Their return shows a few outcomes for the movie’s future with either; a replay of a small scale terror worldwide or an expansion of Stranger things beyond America, which would pose a worldwide threat that could support the movie for some more seasons.
