The granddaughter of legendary musician Bob Marley has been widely chastised for wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ dress designed by rapper Kanye West.
Selah Marley is the granddaughter of reggae legend Bob Marley and the daughter of artist Lauryn Hill, and she chose to assist Kanye with the debut of his new clothing brand during his YZY fashion show.
The slogan ‘White Lives Matter’ has been linked to the Ku Klux Klan and parodies the prominent ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, which seeks to advance the cause of racial equality particularly in the United States but also globally.
The fashion show was a surprise event that took place on Monday.

Models in the rapper’s performance also donned clothing with the message printed across it, in reaction to the ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign, which was started in 2013 in the aftermath of George Zimmerman’s deadly shooting of Trayvon Martin.
Selah shared a video of herself conversing and laughing with West at the event. Selah is wearing a ‘White Lives Matter’ shirt in the video.
Selah captioned the video, “Love you Kanye West,” and posted three videos in all showing her wearing the controversial item.
