Wiper Party Leaders Want Kalonzo Named As Raila’s Running Mate
Wiper Party Leaders Want Kalonzo Named As Raila’s Running Mate: The Wiper party is now pushing for its leader Kalonzo Musyoka to serve as Raila Odinga’s deputy in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya party.
Kalonzo’s deputy said the leader of the wiper party is the most experienced politician and the vice-presidential position would be the only desirable position after a
bandoning the presidential race.
This is because fringe parties within Azimio claim they have been marginalized in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya party and have called for the withdrawal and renegotiation of the coalition agreement.
“Tunamwambia Raila ya kwamba sisi hapa tumeamua kwamba deputy president ni Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka,” said Wiper Secretary General Shakila Abdalla.Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko stated: “Yeye ndio angestahili kuwa rais wa tano wa jamhuri ya Kenya, lakini kwa sababu Kalonzo amechukulia Kenya kubwa kushinda yeye, amekubali kuwa running mate wa Raila Odinga.”

Leaders describe Kalonzo as a seasoned politician with unparalleled leadership experience.
Wajir’s Wiper Party candidate Siyat Mohammed said: “We believe that in all these resumes, he has the greatest pedigree and experience in government and institutions, like Raila Odinga. He brings a lot of institutional and managerial experience. So We believe that once a leader of our party relinquishes the presidency, his next best position is to be vice president.”
The leader of the Wiper party, taking inspiration from his deputy, is optimistic about being the running mate of the Kenyan coalition party Azimio la Umoja One.
Meanwhile, divisions within the Azimio One Kenya coalition are surfacing as it includes Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap, Kivutha Kibwana’s Muungano Party, DAP-K, Charity Ngilu’s NARC and five other parties calling themselves “Mwanzo Mpya” The parties that ratified the coalition deal have rejected it.
The parties want the agreement to be rescinded and renegotiated, claiming they were left out when it was amended to include the Wiper leader.
“In the paper, they only put Jubilee, ODM and Wiper in leadership positions, and then for the rest of us, they decide where we fit, and we don’t agree with that,” Governor Mutua said.
“This document needs to be renegotiated to ensure our interests are seen as the fourth pillar of the alliance,” said DAP-K secretary-general Eseli Simiyu.
