IEBC Announces over 400K Vacancies, How to Apply

The Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) has announced that 418,192 temporary positions will be filled by August 9, 2022.

IEBC is hiring 47 District Assistant Election Officers, 47 District Voter Instructors, and 290 District Voter Instructors.

Other job openings include Returning Officer (52,481), Election/Census Clerk (302,860), ICT Secretary (580), and Deputy District Returning Officer (290).
“The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC ) invites qualified applicants for the following temporary positions to be engaged during the August 9, 2022, General Election.
“47 Deputy County Returning Officers, 290 Deputy Constituency Returning Officers, 52481 Presiding Officers, 52481 Deputy Presiding Officers, 389 Logistics Officers, 5827 Support Electoral Trainers ( SETS ), 580 ICT Clerks, 302860 Polling Clerks / Counting Clerks, 47 County – Based Voter Educators, 290 Constituency – Based Voter Educators and 2900 Ward – Based Voter Educators ( 2 per CAW ),” read the statement in part.

How to apply

Those looking for opportunities can apply by visiting the IEBC Jobs Portal and uploading their details. The required information includes work location, personal information, and academic qualifications.

“Applicants who strictly meet the requirements should apply online at the IEBC Job Portal,” an excerpt from the statement said.

The IEBC added that the portal Will close on May 5, but it has urged interested applicants to submit their applications on time.

The announcement by IEBC comes days after IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati revealed that they would hire over 300,000 Kenyans temporarily to oversee the running of the August 9 polls.

The Selection Committee will contact successful applicants after reviewing the applications.

In addition, the committee published the payment criteria for successful applicants. The chairman pays 2000 Kenyan shillings per day, the vice-chairman pays 1800 Kenyan shillings per day, and the polling staff pays 1000 Kenyan shillings per day.
