Police in Nyahururu have seized more than 57 cases of suspected illegally brewed beer on the way from Nakuru to Nyahururu. According to Ndambuki Muthike, Nyahururu District Deputy Commissioner, the vehicle transporting the alcohol was impounded at the Nyahururu Police Station when a suspect was arrested and is being processed to appear in court when the investigation is completed. He said the beer was packaged in counterfeit bottles with counterfeit Kebs and KRA stamps and that the drink was not believed to be safe for human consumption.

He said KRA officials were brought in to help determine the legality of the beer. The DCC said the drink was being sold to unsuspecting customers in and around the city and warned residents to beware of suspicious drinks.

According to Ndambuki, this is all part of a government-wide effort to eradicate illegal brews and the production, distribution, and consumption of second-generation brews.

He urged citizens to join the government in its crusade against illegal liquor and other criminal activity.
