In an impassioned plea on behalf of the clergy of Kirinyaga County, Governor Anne Waiguru addressed President William Ruto.
Waiguru told Ruto during a Sunday, January 22 thanksgiving ceremony that she had been sent by the men of God to convince him to streamline the marriage procedure.
Waiguru, who is also the chair of the Council of Governors, remarked that religious marriage took too long to finalize compared to civil marriage.
Registering a Christian marriage can be a time-consuming ordeal, especially for those over the age of 50 who wish to wed in a religious ceremony. She begged, “The procedure is more time-consuming than with previous marriages.
In an immediate rebuttal, President Ruto assured the public that he would streamline and simplify the procedure.
When it comes to filing annual taxes on behalf of the churches, the CoG chair also requested Ruto’s intervention.
She made it clear that the group has always been prepared to comply with the law and that they just want the process to be as pleasant as possible.
They have to go to Nairobi in order to complete the annual return process. She pleaded, “Please provide us with a workstation in the Kerugoya Huduma Centre so they may do it here.”
In his reply, Ruto said he was working to make all government services available online.
He promised that things will improve, saying, “They’ll be submitting returns on their phones from the convenience of their own homes.”
A defense of his government’s plan to tighten the country’s tax collecting system prompted this retort from Ruto.
“The tax is something that every citizen must contribute to. The big fish have to find a way to get away immediately. It’s impossible that the average person pays taxes while the wealthy use shady tactics to avoid paying them. The country of Kenya is not a zoo “This is what Ruto said.
They also sought financial backing to help them preach the Gospel across the nation.
Provide them with a tent for use in their missionary travels to help spread the Gospel at a lower cost, and you’ll be accomplishing your personal goals at the same time.
The leader of the nation guaranteed his backing for them.
In order to more effectively disseminate God’s word, he said, “Waiguru, you will pick them.”
When Raila Odinga, leader of the Azimio party, announced a rally for Kamukunji, Deputy President William Ruto brushed it off during the thanksgiving service.
