Newcastle will use third-choice goalkeeper Karius in the Carabao Cup final after a goalkeeping crisis. Nick Pope, Newcastle’s first-choice goalkeeper, was sent off against Liverpool in the Premier League and will miss the final. Dubravka, on loan from Manchester United, is also cup-tied.
In January, Karius extended his summer contract with Newcastle to the end of the season. The 29-year-old has not featured for Newcastle since a 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim while on loan with Union Berlin in February 2021.
Know? Pope’s Premier League red card was his first.
WHAT’S NEXT: Newcastle have a week to prepare for the Carabao Cup final at Wembley, while Manchester United play a crucial Europa League play-off second leg against Barcelona on Thursday at Old Trafford.
