Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus set for return

by Deep dickens

After being sidelined for 13 matches in all competitions, Gabriel Jesus is set to make a comeback for Arsenal in their Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday. The Brazilian striker suffered a knee injury while playing for Brazil in Qatar before the World Cup and has been gradually recovering in recent weeks. Jesus joined full training with the squad at London Colney on Wednesday ahead of the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash at Sporting, and is expected to be included in the travelling squad that will leave London on Wednesday afternoon. However, it is uncertain if he will be part of the matchday squad selected by manager Mikel Arteta.

In a setback for Arsenal, left-back Kieran Tierney will not be able to play on Thursday night after being ruled out due to illness. Additionally, Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah will also miss out due to groin and ankle injuries, respectively. Despite Tierney’s absence, the return of Gabriel Jesus is a boost for Arsenal as they look to progress in the Europa League.
