Media personalities Kamene Goro and Shaffie Weru are making a radio comeback via NRG Radio.

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Kamene put up a poster announcing that she has officially joined NRG Radio to host ‘NRG Transit’ alongside Shaffie Weru and DJ Pierra Makena.

“Good Morning My Loves!!!!!!! @shaffieweru @pierramakenaofficial do you think they are ready for this one? @nrgradiokenya,” Kamene Goro shared.

Their new show will be running from 3:00pm to 7:oopm.

Kamene is making a comeback to NRG Radio years after being poached by Radio Africa Group to host The Morning Kiss alongside Andrew Kibe.

“It is official. Kamene Goro and Andrew Kibe are leaving. #NRGBreakfastClub. You lit this joint..We wish you all the best @kamenegoro and @kibeandy. #NRGBreakfastClub,” wrote NRG back in 2019.

Kibe and Kamene were poached by Radio Africa group to replace Adelle Onyango who hanged her boots after 7 years. At that time Kiss 100 was also re-branding with a completely new studio.

Kamene Goro left Kiss FM in January 2023 and was replaced by Sheila Kwamboka aka Kwambox.

“I have seen these stories, the truth is I was not fired, my contract lapsed and there was no need to move forward with it.

“I was however sick last year and I followed the protocol, and gave in the letters, I never showed up at work sometimes but it is because I was sick. I also never showed up at work intoxicated because I run the desk and you can’t run the desk when you are drunk,” Kamene stated.

On the other hand, Shaffie Weru has joined NRG Radio, weeks after landing a new job with Nairobi County.

The former Kiss FM presenter was tasked to head the events and branding docket at Nairobi County for the next five years.

“Looking forward to making Nairobi work and be great again just as it’s indicated in the Governor’s manifesto,” Shaffie Weru said.

In a surprising turn of events, singer and presenter Oga Obinna has officially left Kiss 100 after working at the radio station for one year, and none of his fans were aware that he would depart.

Oga revealed in his interview with Mpasho that his contract with Kiss has expired and added that the experience has been amazing because it allowed him to realize his passion while working at the station.

Oga also stated that whatever he is going to do from this point onwards will just be extra since he has already worked for the organization he wanted.

“I’m no longer at Kiss. I have finished my contract. The experience has been beautiful and I have achieved my dream and did everything I wanted to do. And everything I do from now henceforth will be extra.

“If it’s a job, a cat a job it will be extra. I have driven that car I wanted to drive (apart from Range Rover Sport), lived in the houses I wanted, and worked in an organization I always wanted. I have achieved what I wanted to do and now we move,” Oga explained.

Oga stated that his experience at Kiss has been wonderful because the company cares about its employees.

He also mentioned that people might speculate about why he left the media entity, but he made it clear that he doesn’t care about what others might say about his departure.

“I have learned that when an organization cares about its people and talent they thrive more. I have worked in organizations where they really don’t care about their employees.

“But here I was myself, dressed the way I want and doing my thing. I know the reason as to why I have left so let those who want to speculate do it, it’s their job,” Obinna said.

Despite having departed Kiss, Oga has said that he might go back to radio in a few years.

How did Obinna land at Kiss?

Oga Obinna used to work at Nation FM, but he started considering opportunities at Kiss when Jalang’o left the station to focus on politics.

It was difficult to find Jalang’o’s replacement because the station had to interview a number of male hosts in order to find the suitable presenter.

Obinna emerged victorious in the contest and started working alongside Kamene Goro, who also left Kiss after some time.

Sheila Kwamboka was brought in to replace Kamene, but she is currently the only host at the station after Obinna confirmed his departure.

Comedian Naomi Kuria has hinted at quitting content creation and comedy in the near future, although she admitted that it has been her source of livelihood.

Kuria, who has worked with some well-known figures in the content creation sector, highlighted that there is still more to come from her and said she has been considering her future. According to the comedian, she is trying to come up with sustainable ways of providing for herself, as she has realized that comedy is clearly not one of them.

“There are definitely more collaborations to come, but I have been thinking about my future. There’s so much going on in my head and one thing I know for sure is that comedy is not going to be my future.

“It might not be part of my future because I’m thinking about more and better sustainable ways of providing for myself and I don’t think comedy is one of them,” Kuria explained.

She said that he really does comedy for passion, but in one way or another, it has become his daily bread. However, she added that at the moment, he did not want to talk more about his future plans.

Matters went personal as Vera clapped back, stating that not even Amber Ray’s entire village can afford to pay Brown Mauzo and delving into her alleged source of funds.

She also hinted that Amber’s confidence and offer may be the product of a few coins received from a certain man, noting that she could not afford Brown Mauzo in the past and certainly, not now either.

“You and your entire village combined can’t afford to pay my husband for a show. Keep dreaming. He would rather perform for ants and roaches. Were you not the one parading pics with him all over Instagram? If you couldn’t afford to pay him, then what makes you think you can afford him now? Oh wait, is it because of the few coins from Mr…I get it, But still can’t afford even,” she said.

The beef started when Vera accused Amber of imitating her gender reveal celebration and scheming to have hers aired to make it appear like she (Amber) was the creative one.

Kiss 100 radio presenter Oga Obinna has threatened to leave if his co-host, Kwambox, continues with plans to invite Eric Omondi for an interview on Friday.

During their conversation on Thursday morning, the comedian noted with anger that he would sooner exit the premises than share the studio with Eric Omondi.

“Eric is not doing an interview here as long as I live. And if he happens to come, I will leave,” Obinna said.

The radio presenter warned Kwambox to stop the plan or risk doing the Friday show without him.

“Tell Eric if he is stepping foot here tomorrow… asikuje na security… na akikuja na hiyo umbwa, am telling you Eric will not set foot in this studio. And if he comes Kwamboka, show itakua Eric na Kwambox,” Obinna noted.

Asked why he was so angry and bitter toward his fellow comedian, Obinna could not hide his dislike for Eric Omondi. He said he would not participate in the planned interview because he did not invite him.

“You invited Eric I don’t like the guy. Eric is a bully, childish and misinformed,” Obinna said.

He accused Eric of not being empathetic or doing anything in the music and entertainment industry to bring change.

“Eric is not empathetic. Eric does not have a plan; he only wakes up to think of who he will insult next,” Obinna said.

Obinna’s words and description of Eric Omondi show that the two comedians still have an unsettled conflict.

In response to Obinna’s words, the self-proclaimed ‘president of African comedy’ gave a list of four conditions he wants the radio station to fulfill during the interview.

The conditions are:-

1. Clearance for his dogs and security detail
2. To be interviewed and addressed by Kwambox only
3. One lift and washroom should be reserved for him between 8-10:00 a.m.
4. Mineral water and German sausages for his dogs

The war of words between the two started in August 2022 when Eric attacked Obinna and his then-co-host Kamene Goro for the alleged use of his name on the radio for PR.
