After obtaining a search warrant, DCI detectives raided Fred Matiangi’s home on Wednesday to retrieve CCTV footage.
After gate watchmen refused admission, investigators and uniformed police officers broke the main gate.
They searched the property for CCTV evidence to verify Matiangi’s assertion that police stormed the home last week.
Matiangi’s office was searched after DCI chief Mohammed Amin revealed it had recorded testimonies from police personnel linked to the former Cabinet Secretary.
“Upon finishing our investigation, we will take measures if any officers from any security agency were involved in any unauthorized operations, or if anyone deliberately distributed false information to the public,” he stated.
The DCI asked for a search warrant after the court denied their request to compel Matiangi’s home security providers to hand over the material.
Matiangi’s legal team, represented by Danstan Omari, said the police forced entrance into the former security boss’s residence under former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We were informed that cops arrested the watchman and broke the main gate. “This is unacceptable,” he remarked.
Amin said the agency will check the film to verify Matiangi’s claims of a February 8 raid at his residence, which were disregarded.
The DCI chief said the agency will punish public misinformers.
Amin said the bureau had made tremendous progress in its Matiangi home raid probe.
Amin said the agency found no police station complaint about the search after a thorough examination.
“Through our efforts, we have recorded statements from the VIP police assigned to Matiangi’s residence on the night in issue, as well as the private security company monitoring the property,” he stated.
Subaru.
He stated that the Subaru vehicle registration as KDK 488L discovered near Matiangi’s residence belonged to Inter Management Group Limited and was driven by Peter Gacheru.
Gacheru is a director at Inter Management Group Limited and a neighbor of the previous CS at Karen Ngong View Estate, a private enclave.
“Advocate Kethi Kilonzo acting on behalf of Peter Gacheru has validated the ownership data in a letter to DCI complete with current copies of the insurance and logbook,” Amin stated.
He stated that the agency will gather information from all parties.
“We take all complaints seriously and will work carefully to bring the truth to light,” he said.
Amin said the DCI conducts unbiased investigations and upholds the law.
