Meru County Government will conduct the third Mt Kenya Mountain Run on February 26.
The Mt Kenya Mountain Run promotes health, wellbeing, environmental conservation, and cancer awareness in Meru county through runners, local communities, and organizations.
Meru Hospice, a nonprofit palliative care organization, generally co-hosts the event.
It offers a unique and hard sports experience with courses from 3 km to 13 km at nearly 3000 metres above sea level.
Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza encouraged the community to participate in big numbers to raise health awareness.
She added the event shows Meru county’s dedication to health, wellbeing, environmental protection, and cancer prevention.
“We look forward to inviting Kenyan and international runners to this beautiful event,” Mwangaza remarked.
The governor stated that the event is likely to draw amateur and elite runners and has been commended for its well-organized and sponsored race.
“The County Government of Meru is also proud to announce partnerships and collaborations with a number of local and international sports organizations, environmental organizations, and corporate sponsors, which will provide valuable support in funding, marketing, and volunteer recruitment,” she said.
The event promotes physical activity, cancer awareness, environmental protection, and tourism, which helps local communities.
