On March 30, 2023, a fatal accident occurred when a Pwani University bus, carrying over 30 students to participate in sports competitions in Eldoret, collided head-on with a 14-seater matatu around Kayole area in Naivasha.
Unfortunately, 14 people lost their lives in the accident, while several others sustained injuries and were rushed to the nearby health facility for treatment.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that the bus’s brake failure might have caused it.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to restore the flow of traffic after a snarl-up was experienced on the highway, and motorists were advised to exercise caution when approaching the area.
