President Vladimir Putin undergoes cancer surgery hands power to former KGB chief
President Vladimir Putin undergoes cancer surgery: President Vladimir Putin will reportedly hand over power to his top spy boss Nikolai Patrushev while undergoing cancer surgery.
According to the New York Post, Putin handpicked Security Council President Patrushev to temporarily take over the Russian government while he recovers from surgery.
The 70-year-old, considered a key architect of the invasion of Ukraine, is said to have convinced the president that Kyiv was full of neo-Nazis.
The unsubstantiated claim emerged in a video posted on the Russian telegram channel General SVR, believed to be managed by a former Russian intelligence lieutenant.
In the video, the narrator claims President Vladimir Putin undergoes cancer surgery designed to incapacitate him “for a short time.”
The narrator added that Putin is “unlikely to relinquish control for a long period of time” and that Patrushev will only be in power for two to three days.
Mr. Patrushev is considered a tougher ruler than Mr. Putin, with the narrator calling him an “outspoken villain”.In the video, the narrator claims Mr. Putin will undergo cancer surgery designed to incapacitate him “for a short time.”

Independent Russian media The Project published a lengthy report saying Putin had seen oncologists as many as “35 times”.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the Biden administration could not confirm reports that Putin had cancer and was undergoing a transition of power.
“At the moment I haven’t seen anything that would help us confirm that,” Kirby told reporters.
Speculation over the leader’s health has come after viral videos resurfaced, with the new claims appearing to show the Russian president shaking and stumbling.
Footage from February recently shared on social media, showed the 69-year-old’s right arm briefly shaking uncontrollably as he quickly pulled it to his chest to stop the shaking.
He then appeared to stumble as he took the first steps towards his friend and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who arrived at the Kremlin for a meeting.
In another TV show, President Putin appeared to grab the arm of the chair he was sitting on while fidgeting and repeatedly hitting the floor with his foot.
