Kenya Kwanza to name running mate before Monday: Kenyan Kwanza Union presidential candidate William Ruto will announce his running mate by Monday.
Speaking to the media at his Karen residence on Tuesday, the deputy said the names of those representing him would be submitted to the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission by a deadline.
“I want to assure you that as candidates for the Kenyan Kwanza and the next general election, we will submit our running mates to the IEBC by the deadline,” Ruto said. The IEBC is expected to receive the names of the presidential nominees’ running mates by April 16.
In the Ruto-led Kenyan Kwanza coalition, Senator Tharaka Nithi, Kitthure Kindiki, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, MP Mathira, Rigathi Gachagua, and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi are some of the leaders believed to be responsible for fighting for the position.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, a late member of the Kenya-Kwanza coalition, has also been mentioned several times as a potential running mate.

While the Kenyan Kwanza camp is keeping secrets about the criteria they used to select Ruto’s running mate, Azimiola United One Kenya Coalition chose to be interviewed to identify the right person to represent Raila.
Interviews began on Monday, May 9, and will end on May 10.
Gideon Moi of Kanu, whose party supports Kalonzo Musyoka, dropped the interview.
Following the interview, the Azimio running mate selection panel will provide a report of suitable candidates to the Azimio Council, after which the candidates will be announced.
At Azimio-OKA, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and agriculture CS Peter Munya are some of the leaders representing Raila Odinga in the August 9 polls.
Others include; Murang’a Congresswoman Sabina Chege and Governors Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho.
