Bahati tears dried after bagging jubilee ticket: Musician Kevin Mbuvi Kioko aka “Bahati” has been named as Mathare’s Jubilee Party MP candidate.
At a news conference attended by Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Keoni and other leaders, Jubilee announced that Bahati would win the party’s vote in the August 9 election.
Just a few weeks ago, he broke down when he was asked to step down in favor of an ODM candidate after the Azimio-Kenya coalition zoning.
A tearful Bahati told the media he was asked to support an ODM candidate under the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition agreement.
Without naming names, the artist said he was told Mathare was an ODM stronghold.
“I respect you President [Uhuru Kenyatta] and I respect Honourable Raila Odinga but please give the youth of this country a chance,” he said.
“I know there is zoning and Mathare has been zoned as an ODM area but for this one time, give the youth of this country. Give the people of Mathare a chance to get the leader they have always wanted.” He added.
