Hope for South Ngariama residents as titling process advances

As the Ministry of Lands begins adjudication, thousands of people of the vast South Ngariama property in Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County will receive title deeds.

Justice John Mutungi of Kerugoya Environment and Lands Court ordered the government to handle the issues that had plagued the area for over 30 years.

On Thursday, Kirinyaga County Commissioner Moses Ivuto and County Executive Committee Member for Lands Rev. Samuel Kanjobe organized a public engagement meeting to educate citizens about the effort.

Residents were introduced to Ministry of Lands officials who would start the adjudication procedure to issue title deeds.Ezekiel Kiania, Ministry of Lands Assistant Director for Adjudication and Settlement, urged residents to support the project and promised fair and transparent oversight. “Our role here is to ensure that the legitimate owners get their title deeds, and to amicably address any developing issue, we appeal for peace and patience as we seek a solution.” said.

In the event, Governor Anne Waiguru’s CECM for lands, Rev. Kanjobe, emphasized that the County Government’s only goal was to permanently address the land question.

He asked citizens to collaborate and finish the process, saying there was political goodwill to get land ownership documentation.

He advised them to ignore the skeptics trying to disrupt the process.

Governor Waiguru prioritized South Ngariama title deeds during her Kutus inauguration.

Residents praised the County Government for resolving the issue.
