Gabriel Jesus had an impressive performance on Saturday, scoring twice to help Arsenal secure a 4-1 win against Leeds United. The victory restored the Gunners’ eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, after Manchester City closed the gap to five points with a win over Liverpool earlier in the day.
Jesus opened the scoring with a penalty just before half-time and added his second goal with a close-range finish in the second half. Despite his excellent performance, the 25-year-old was taken off by coach Mikel Arteta in the 60th minute, which he admitted was a bit frustrating but he respected Arteta’s decision.
Jesus reflected on his recovery from a knee injury he suffered during the World Cup and said that he loves challenges and is ready to play more minutes. He will be looking to continue his good form when Arsenal face Liverpool next weekend.
Overall, it was a strong showing from Jesus and the Gunners, who are on track to break the ‘Invincibles’ record under Arteta’s leadership.
