Kipchumba Murkomen, cabinet secretary for transport, appointed Caroline Njoki, also known as Njoki Wa Mathira, to the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) board.

The appointment was announced in a gazette notification published on January 20, which stated that the young Njoki would begin his three-year term on Monday, January 23, 2023.

The notice stated in part, “The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport appoints the foregoing in exercise of the authority provided by section 4 (f) of the Kenya Ports Authority Act, as read along with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act.”

Njoki Wa Mathira is one of the select few who associate with President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene. Several of their online interactions portray each other as sisters.
In December of 2022, at Njoki’s commencement, Charlene made the following remarks: “This was all my little sister’s doing. She can now read and write for herself. I think the world of you, Njoki Wa Mathira, for setting such a fine example for the next generation.”

Njoki also made these remarks on Charlene’s birthday in January 2023: “Wishing my older sister, Charlene Ruto, a joyous birthday! The strength and grace with which you’ve been developing is just remarkable. Your allure and charm have drawn you outside, where you may enjoy being a carefree young adult.”

Charlene’s been taking Njoki along on her international travels to locations like Ghana and Morocco, where they have been visiting local schools.

During the election season, Njoki helped spread the word about the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Mt. Kenya, particularly in the Mathira sub-county, which is Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political stronghold.

“I am eager to take on this responsibility and help us keep our commitments to the people of Kenya. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me “On Saturday, January 21st, Njoki disclosed.

She also expressed her appreciation by saying, “I am extremely grateful to the president, his deputy, and the CS for bestowing upon me the trust to deliver in my position and in the specific area entrusted to me.”

Along with Njoki, Musa Osman, Emmanuel Kibet, Consolata Lusweti, and Lucas Maitha were also appointed to their positions. Five additional appointees had their positions canceled by Murkomen.
