Infontrack: if elections were held today Raila will win with 42%: According to a poll by Infotrak Research and Consulting, Azimio flag-bearer Raila Odinga is the best candidate for the presidency if elections are held now.
The poll, conducted in all 290 constituencies, found that 42 percent of respondents would vote for Raila, while 38 percent named Vice President William Ruto as their preferred candidate. Polls show Raila will get 9.3 million votes and Ruto 8.4 million.
Polls show neither candidate will declare fifty plus one victory
It added that Raila would lead in 20 regions, while Ruto would lead in 16 regions. The survey error rate is plus or minus one.
A total of 9,000 respondents were interviewed between May 23-27.
According to the study, Ruto’s popularity dropped to 38 percent.
That’s in stark contrast to previous polls that showed the two presidential candidates neck and neck.
Infotrak’s research attributes the new results to Odinga and Ruto’s selection of running mates ahead of the August election.
This shows that Raila won after picking Martha Karua as his running mate, while Ruto fell after picking Rigathi Gachagua
