Didn’t see this one coming! Over 10 million Kenyans risk going blind in 10 years

The Kenya Society for The Blind has sounded an alarm over the rising cases of vision loss.

The organisation’s chairperson Angela Wambui has said it rehabilitates 20 to 30 people who go blind each month to help them adapt to their new way of life.

The Ndaragwa MP claimed that Deputy President William Ruto was jittery because he knows Raila will clinch the presidency come August 9, 2022.

Kenyans Lose Ksh 1.1B to Chinese Investor in New Bitcoin Scam

Thousands of Kenyans are counting losses after they lost Ksh1.1 billion (USD10 million) in a new cryptocurrency scam.

According to a cryptocurrency website Bitcoin.com, the individuals were duped by a company Christened Bitstream Circle whose records showed that it was registered in the United Kingdom.

 

The individuals were lured into the Ponzi scheme after being promised a daily return of investment of between 5% and 8%.

According to the publication, the scheme expanded to include 11,000 members drawn from seven countries and showed that a Chinese National Quin Yang was registered as its director. Read more on kenyans.co.ke

MKU Unveils Churchill Institute of Performing Arts

The Mount Kenya University on Saturday launched the Churchill Institute of Performing Arts to promote the creative industry in the country.

Named after renowned entertainer Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill, the school will be domiciled at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre

Speaking at the launch, MKU Chairman Simon Gicharu attributed the move to immortalise Churchill to his contribution to the growth of Kenya’s entertainment industry. Read more on Kahawatungu.com

Kenya Ranked 27th Unhappiest Nation In The World

Kenya has been ranked the 27th unhappiest country in a new global happiness report.

Kenya ranks 119th out of 146 countries in the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s 2022 World Happiness Report.

Kenyan respondents cited perceived government corruption as the main source of their dissatisfaction, according to the report.

This is a slight decrease from last year’s happiness index, which ranked the country 121st out of 149 countries.

Kenya was ranked 23rd in Africa, behind Uganda, which led the East African Community (EAC) and was ranked 117th worldwide. Read more on Citizendigital
