Deputy President William Ruto led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has set April 14, as the date of its primaries ruling out direct tickets.

UDA’s National Elections Board (NEB) chairman Anthony Mwaura said the nomination for all the wards, constituencies, and counties will be held on the same day.

Mwaura said the party will subject all aspirants to a competitive exercise save for areas where there is a single aspirant. read more on the star.co.ke

Treasury Cripples DP Ruto’s Campaigns

Deputy President William Ruto’s campaign is facing a hard time financially after the National Treasury delayed releasing funds to his office.

Recent reports by The Nation indicated that the DP’s office has not been receiving operational funds from the government.

According to the publication, DP Ruto was spending his own money to cater for the accommodation and other expenses of his staff members during campaigns. read more on kenyans.co.ke

President Uhuru Kenyatta Presides Over The Launch of Microsoft ADC Facility in Nairobi

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday evening presided over the official launch of the Microsoft Africa Development Centre (ADC) in Westlands, Nairobi. This is one of two facilities in the continent, with the other located in Lagos Nigeria. Located at the iconic Dunhill Towers in Westlands, the ADC provides an environment for African techies to develop solutions to address local and global challenges.

President Uhuru toured the facility in the company of ICT CS Joe Mucheru. It currently hosts about 450 developers who are working on various applications.

China Continues Battling Worst COVID-19 Outbreak Of Pandemic

China’s national health officials said Friday the nation is continuing to battle the country’s worst COVID-19 outbreak of the pandemic, with more than 56,000 new cases counted since March 1.

The officials told a news briefing in Beijing that more than half of those cases have been recorded in northeastern Jilin province and include asymptomatic cases.

At the same briefing in Beijing, the infectious disease expert for the China Center for Disease Control, Wu Zunyou, said officials contend the so-called “zero-COVID” strategy remains “the most economical and most effective prevention strategy against COVID-19.” Read more on Citizen digital news
