British MP Khan convicted of sexually assaulting 15-year-old boy

On Monday, a British court ruled that Conservative MP Imran Ahmad Khan sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy in 2008 after forcing him to drink gin at a party.
Imran Ahmad Khan, 47, a representative of the northern English town of Wakefield, dragged the boy upstairs and pushed him to bed, the court heard.

The victim, who did not want to be named, told the court he felt “anxious, vulnerable and numb,” Khan was “slowly stroking” his legs.

Khan said he only touched the teenager’s elbow after becoming upset about his “sexual confusion” during a conversation.

The victim said he contacted the Conservative press office days before the 2019 election, and Khan chose to tell them what happened, but “I wasn’t taken seriously.”
Khan has since been suspended. His sentence will be decided at a later date.

A spokesman for the opposition Labour Party said Khan, who denies the allegations, should resign so that new MPs can be elected.

Before entering parliament, Khan served at the United Nations as a special assistant for political affairs in Mogadishu.
