Wambora Cleared To Vie For The Embu Senate Seat

Embu Governor Martin Wambora has been approved by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) to run for the county’s Senate seat in the August election.

Wambora, who is about to hit his two-term limit, will vie through his Umoja na Maendeleo party and is expected to face 18 other contenders, including his running mate David Kariuki, who is using UDA tickets. Kariuki was cleared on Monday.

After the approval, the Chairman of the Council of Governors (CoG) spoke confidently about seizing the seat, pledging to “protect” the devolution and advocate for the county’s legitimate share of the transferred funds.
“All systems are now up and running, and we are going all out to sell our transformation agenda to the great people of Embu,” Governor Wambora said.

Others acquitted so far include Jubilee Party former youth PS Lillian Mbogo, Democrat Alexander Mundigi, and incumbent Senator Njeru Ndwiga, who ran as an independent candidate after losing the UDA primary.

For his part, Mundigi made his second attempt on the pitch after losing to Ndwiga in 2017 and he finished second and he is confident he will win this time.
