Governors, cabinet secretaries, and principal secretaries will attend the Naivasha National and County Government Coordinating Summit today.

The two-day summit will examine revenue division, a contentious subject between counties and the federal government.

President William Ruto will chair the summit with COG chairperson Anne Waiguru as deputy.

The law mandates two summits per year.

The summit will also debate the long-delayed devolution of important tasks to counties.

Ruto has advocated for unbundling functions and providing resources.

Discussions will also include county policing authority development.

The Nanyuki resolutions from January 7 will also be updated.

The county chiefs want a raise from Sh370 billion to Sh425 billion, but Treasury can only add Sh10 billion.

Commission on Revenue Allocation wants to raise it to Sh407 billion.

The Saturday gathering will also discuss county bills and intergovernmental relations.

The conference includes Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Gachagua told senators in Mombasa at the end of the four-day post-election seminar that the government would not enhance the allotment.

“We don’t want to defraud governors. The Sh50 billion pledged never arrived “stated.
