Inside Raila’s 100-day in-office manifesto: Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has promised to implement a series of reforms in the country in his first 100 days if he is elected president on August 9.

On Monday, June 7, Raila delivered the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Manifesto at Nyayo Stadium, announcing that he will carry out an economic revolution, social change, and good governance reforms during this period.

During the economic revolution, the ODM party leader pledged to introduce a guaranteed minimum rate of return framework for all farmers and further pledged that his government would innovate in the field.

He also pledged to improve electricity distribution in the country while working to further reduce electricity costs.
ODM bosses are targeting young people, promising them a seven-year tax holiday to create jobs for the most unemployed.

Various Jua Kali groups will also benefit in the first 100 days as Azimio candidates have pledged to source home-building items from them while working on affordable housing projects.

“Sourcing and promoting products made in Kenya, buying Kenya, building Kenya and inspiring Kenyans, both expatriates, and foreigners, to invest in manufacturing,” reads part of the manifesto.

However, he noted that the national debt has become a burden for many Kenyans and vowed to work with lenders and financial institutions to restructure the country’s debt.
Especially in the wake of social change, Raila pledged to ensure the transfer of 6,000 Kenyan shillings to more than 2 million Kenyans on his first day in office. In addition, he said he would create jobs for the youth by revitalizing the Kazi Mtani plan launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta during his second term.

Under Baba Care, Raila pledged to provide medical care to all retired military officers, although he said they would prioritize primary health care.

“Involvement and greater recognition of community health workers as grassroots partners, a cost-effective way to extend health services to hard-to-reach areas, and a last-mile approach to health care,” part of the manifesto read.
Additionally, Azimio candidates promise to accept all unemployed trained teachers.

As part of the Good Governance Initiative, Raila has pledged to increase the salaries of Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) police and officers.

To rebuild the relationship between police and citizens, Laila has pledged to have at least six officers at each station to handle youth matters.

“Ensure strict implementation of the police reforms envisaged in the Constitution and create a framework for the introduction of a virtual police station model.”
He also announced that he would declare corruption a threat to national security and pledged not to allow civil servants in his administration to do business with the government.

“The appointed and elected members accept moral and political responsibility for any wrongdoing on their record and also disclose their financial interests during their tenure.”

In addition, he said an accelerated model will be created to ensure that all corruption cases are prosecuted and closed promptly.
