South Africa removes visa requirement for Kenyan travellers

Beginning in January 2023, Kenyan citizens who intend to visit South Africa for up to 90 days per year would no longer need a visa.

A deal to permit Kenyans to travel without a passport was revealed on Wednesday by President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is in the nation for a two-day official visit.

“In order to enable Kenyans to travel to South Africa without a visa, we have talked about the subject of visas between South Africa and Kenya. This will go into effect on January 1, 2023, and Kenyans will have access to it for 90 days each year “said he.

Since 2017, South Africans have been able to travel to Nairobi for up to 90 days without a visa.

Long before Pretoria responded, Kenya expressed its displeasure with the numerous obstacles that its residents continue to encounter when traveling to South Africa.

Nairobi had expressed specific worry with the costly nature of South African visas as well as the lengthy processing time, which is currently at least five days.
