Robert Alai: Why I dropped parliamentary bid for MCA seat
Prominent blogger Robert Alai has dropped his candidacy in the Nyando council to run for the Kileleshwa member’s seat in the regional council.
Alai’s move comes a few months after he realeased a development plan for Nyando members.
If you were vying for MP and then you changed to MCA, you have upgraded and not demoted yourself.
In public service, being closer to the common man is an upgrade. Don't let your ego be bruised with chants of "umeshuka bei."

In an exclusive chat with the star, Ali explained his choice for the Kileleshwa district seat and said he believed he would have more influence as a legislature representing the citizens. He believes that the changes in Nairobi will have a positive impact on most of the country.
“If you say you have shown interest in the MP seats and therefore cannot decide the MCA seat, you are not helping citizens. It is a selfish victory and it shows that you want to satisfy your ego.”
Alai is banking on his achievements as chairman of the Nairobi estate to get voters to support him.
The blogger said he brought order to the nearly 5,000-person residence during his tenure as president of the estate.
“I’ve been in the city for a long time and if you ask anyone at Nyayo Estate Embakasi where I was chairman for a while, you’ll understand that I made a lot of changes there,” he said.
“I realize that people don’t have to fight directly for their rights…the people you choose can represent you and express your concerns.”
The blogger urges anyone who doubts his abilities to visit the Nyayo estate and get first-hand proof of his achievements.
