Karua campaigns on foot in Eldoret: Azimio’s vice presidential candidate, Martha Karua, surprised many in Eldoret by abandoning her car and walking down the streets of Eldoret looking for votes.
Karua walked more than two miles, waving to residents and urging them to vote for Azimio on August 9.
Along with other Azimio leaders, she is flanked by Congressman candidate Maina Kamanda.
Most political leaders usually lead campaigns from their cars, but Karua chose to take to the streets, a departure from tradition.
On her way to the Huruma compound rally, she addressed residents of Eldoret’s main market.
Previously, Karua attended pre-event services at the Ayub Kinyua PCEA Church in Eldoret.
Karua was warmly welcomed at the church and urged religious leaders to pray for the country ahead of the election.
“Even as we prepare to elect leaders for our country, the church should help Kenyans understand the difference between good and bad,” Karua said.
It was Karua’s first visit to the region after being named vice president of presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
The area, home to Vice President William Ruto, is seen as a stronghold, but Azmo finds support mainly in Eldoret
