Jah Cure, to serve six years in prison

Jamaican reggae artist Siccaturie Alcock, better known as Jah Cure, has been sentenced to six years in prison for attempted manslaughter in the Netherlands.
Jah Cure will serve six years in prison, counting the time already served, according to Franklin Vatimena, a spokesman for the Dutch prosecutor’s office.

The artist’s legal team can appeal to the Dutch Court of Appeal within two weeks.

“The musician was sentenced to six years in prison for attempted homicide – including time served. The court found he was not guilty of attempted murder … harassing the man (Jah Cure) and his legal team has the option of harassing the man (Jah Cure) if they disagree with the court’s verdict. Two weeks to appeal to the court,” Watttimena noted.

Lover rock king Jah Cure spent his 43rd birthday, Christmas and New Years behind bars late last year after being charged in a Dutch court.
In his defense, Jah Cure claimed he was in self-defense and had no intention of stabbing Blake, adding that he was protecting himself because he was wearing an expensive watch. His legal team has the opportunity to appeal the case to the Court of Appeal.

The ‘Love Is’ singer has broken the law. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, rape and robbery in aggravated circumstances and was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted in 1999, but was released in early 2007 after serving eight years.

Four years later, he was charged with drug possession after police found a small amount of marijuana in his car.

Being behind bars never stopped healing spells as he released three albums and a string of singles while incarcerated.
In 2000, he released his debut album Free Jah’s Cure The Album the Truth, followed by 2003’s Ghetto Life and 2005’s Freedom Blues. True Reflections…A New Beginning, his fourth album, was released four days after he was released from prison.

After his 2015 album The Cure, he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. His last work, Blood in the Water, will be released in February 2022.

Before his arrest, Jah Cure had hinted that he was working on his new album, titled Undeniable.
